colors! colors!

A digital paint program (or whatever you call it) is pretty cool. Not being to fanatical I made the above sketch and inked it. But made with this program in mind so I could color it. With the result:
(This is only a part, the whole thing, and one with better colors is on my flickr account)
Now, if you're smarter than me (that's easy), you probably noticed already with the sketch that the head is pretty much an egg. I somewhat ignored it and that's, I think, too bad because coloring it took way longer than sketching and inking.

Poster

I was trying out stuff on this open source vector program and after a long practise came up with this:

But somehow I suddenly made a wrong move and the program crashed, and I even couldn't open the saved file I was working on. (That was very uncool, maybe that's a downside of open source) The only reason I can show what I made is that I luckily made a print-screen half way(unfortunately saved it as jpg). Because I worked hours on it, I started over, and I got this: (much quicker, but the first was better)

new logo

my old logo bothered me a bit, I thought it was pretty
pretentious:

isn't it? also those letters where done with simple windows
paintbrush, not good, look at the 'V'. man you can easily see
the pixels.

so I was a bit playing with this new open source painting
program i downloaded, and i came up with this flower, and
thought maybe this is a good idea for a new logo.

but than again i think it's to hippy-peaceloving-girly like,
so to balance it I put the though looking guy from my
old logo with it:

but still...it just doesn't seem to fix it. i'm nearly planning to put the
old one back but what is the big deal, right? Why do i actually spend so much time on this? goooood question.

failure

I had made a sketch of a 'building', wich I thought was ok. Now I wanted it in black and white. But knowing my lack of resources and skills I scanned the image first:

And yes that was a good idea, because after I inked it (can't really call it inking because I use a pen whitout need of dipping and of less than one euro fifty). It shows that the sketch, wich I thougth looked great (stupid me), was not ok. (in sense of depth, don't know the english word). It should have been clearer and more detailed than I would have noticed the mistakes.

And good that this image is small because the 'inking' really was a disaster.

Found some old sketch and thought nice, maybe I should color it.

But then I saw I already did:

and some...well... hypnotized girl (bigger looks better)

Next drawing is inspired by this illustrator, although you maybe won't notice it directly. There are a few moments for me to draw above average:
-simple necessity
-the second day after a long time without drawing at all (the first day I am really bad it's like mowing the gras with a pair of scissors, the second day I think I'm a genius.)
-and other artists! like the links on the right and the mentioned illustrator.

What I like about it is:

The way the officers salute (maybe these guys look to tough, same for my logo)

The trees (inspired by Frank Daenen)

And the flag.
What I didn't like was that I apparently am not able to draw a building straigth and that my scanner ruined my picture (I shoud draw bigger, the officers are like 4 cm)

how to draw a simple suit?

I was planning to do the blog from now on in my own language, but why would I do that? All those %$#@ people in my country speak, I mean read, english fine (that's why they are %$#@). Allright, I simple wanted to learn how to draw a suit. The best way to learn it is ofcourse to look at reality but I always end up drawing from pictures. Then the goal is to draw without example, result:

practising...(this is an old style suit, with high collar, I like that, serious)

This one was actually before I started practising, and if you are annoying you notice that it's not anatomically correct, btw I am annoying.
